IAccess team recommendation to the CIO Action: Revised text::
The IT Policy Planning Team recommends that a campus team be identified or formed to offer advice and assistance in the drafting, vetting and implementation of the Policy for Use of Institutional Access Control Services and the Appropriate Use Standards for NetID.
During review of the early drafts some significant issues have been raised which were not fully addressed by the NetID PIT or ACT. These include population management, authorization, and handling of exceptions. It seems desirable that to the extent practical these be resolved by a team of people who are representative of the campus community.
The policy recommendation originated via ACT, but the Policy Planning Team does not want to assume that follow-on advice and assistance must come from the same place. The PPT therefore recommends that a campus team be identified or formed, with ACT being one possible candidate. It does not appear to be practical to re-convene the NetID PIT, because several members are no longer available.
The PPT suggest the team should have a broad spectrum of people representative of the campus, including both technical and non-technical people. The PPT would be glad to assist the team.
